14th ANNUAL GORTGLASS LAKE CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM 2017 RAISES €4185.00 FOR WEST CLARE CANCER CENTRE!!!!!
Huge thanks to West Clare Mini Marathon stalwart John O Connell and his Gortglass Christmas Day Swim colleagues for their fantastic donation of €4185.00 to the West Clare Cancer Centre, Kilkee. The group’s tireless fundraising efforts have resulted in close to €80,000.00 donated to the cause over the past 14 years – a phenomenal achievement by local people in a small, West Clare community whose effervescence and ebullience remain unsurpassed. John’s altruism does not end in the waters of Gortglass Lake on Christmas Day – long after he has retired his swimming trunks for another year, it’s back to business as he walks, runs & hikes his way through the year ahead, all in aid of charitable causes. Truly the embodiment of philanthropy and selflessness.
